Time is not on the side of FC Barcelona as they look to get through the final days of the transfer window. La Blaugrana have had a very controversial window so far and not every decision made by them has made sense to everyone. However, if they still have any more plans left, Barcelona must hurry with them.

The departures of players like Ilkay Gundogan and Mikayil Faye have already been planned out and even carried out, but beyond just departures the club also wants to make sales. However, this does not mean that every rumored exit will end up coming to fruition.

Such will likely be the case of the entire transfer saga going on with 28-year-old Andreas Christensen it seems. According to journalist Adria Albets, both FC Barcelona and the entourage of the player have ruled out any departures for the Danish defender this summer at the moment.

The people close to the player have delivered a clear message stating that he is happy at FC Barcelona and that he will be staying. Previously, reports began to emerge suggesting that English Premier League side Newcastle United could potentially come into the picture and look into Christensen as a defensive signing.

While the Dane did miss his recent training session appointment with the rest of his teammates in what was the final preparation before the clash against Athletic Club, that was due to physical issues and not transfer-related ones.

Moreover, the journalist has also stated that Hansi Flick himself likes the player and is happy with him in his squad. Thanks to his versatility of being able to play both as a defender and as a defensive midfielder, it is undeniable that Christensen offers a lot of value and quality across the board.

Yet, some continue to argue that due to his arrival as a free agent, Christensen could be a profitable asset if the club were to sell him for a good price. However, it seems that the sporting requirements of the club are also as such that they simply cannot afford to lose another more experienced and proven player following Ilkay Gundogan’s recent departure.
