FC Barcelona want to make at least one big sale from their current squad in order to generate some much-needed funds and to bring down their wage bill to some extent. The club tried to find suitors for a number of its high-profile players in recent months, but no move has materialized as of yet.
One such player that the club is willing to sell, as he is not an integral part of the FC Barcelona squad for the upcoming season, is the midfielder Franck Kessie. The player joined FC Barcelona last summer but has not been able to lock down a starting spot in Xavi’s lineup.
Still, his physical attributes make him a player with a high market demand, and the player has attracted interest from the Serie A and the Premier League. Juventus is one of the clubs that have been strongly linked with him in the last few weeks.
According to SPORT, the club from Turin is keen to get the player this summer and has requested Barcelona for a summit this week in Santa Clara, which will coincide with their match with the Blaugranes in the USA.
Juventus believe the addition of Kessie to their squad will go a long way in helping them contest for titles in the upcoming seasons, especially since some of their midfielders have already left the club. Their coach, Massimiliano Allegri, particularly likes the midfielder for his winning character.
Juventus are trying to convince Barcelona to a loan with an option to purchase, but the Catalans are adamant that they will only consider offers for a full sale, with a minimum transfer fee of €15 million. Progress towards such a move can be made when the next round of negotiations takes place in the USA.
Kessie himself has expressed multiple times that he wants to remain at FC Barcelona. However, Juventus can offer the player much more than Barcelona from a sporting perspective, which can help change his mind.
