FC Barcelona must now move beyond the disappointment of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. Despite a rather poor display of strength against Real Madrid, the Catalan giants can no longer linger on that defeat. Instead, Barcelona must turn their attention back towards the present.
With that in mind, La Blaugrana next face their challenge in the Copa Del Ray. While one domestic cup gets lost without much joy, another one still remains just as alive. Having overcome their first challenge in the Round of 32, Barça now face Unionistas in the Round of 16.
Keeping that in mind, Xavi has already had his team return to training. However, as highlighted by SPORT, there was one notable absence and several noticeable young sightings. The session comes into play after a day of respite for the team.
Joao Cancelo, one of the team’s most important pieces, still remains missing. After suffering an injury against Las Palmas, the Portuguese fullback has had to spend his time away from the field and continue his recovery. However, despite Xavi being relatively optimistic about an early return previously, it seems Cancelo is still not ready.
Those who do seem ready, however, are the youngsters of the team. Xavi has called upon the services of Marc Guiu, Hector Fort, Marc Casado, Ander Astralaga, Diego Kochen, and Pau Cubarsi to join the first team for the latest training session.
While they were also present in the Spanish Super Cup, these players did not end up featuring. In fact, another player who did not end up featuring at all in Saudi Arabia was Vitor Roque. The latest transfer arrival for Barcelona, Roque was also performing normally in the latest training session.
Despite some discomfort previously, it seems that he is now fully fit again. His last appearance for Barcelona came in the Copa Del Ray, and it would not be surprising to see him be utilized once again in the same competition.
