FC Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense have reportedly reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of the young promising striker, Vitor Roque, while the details of the operation remain to be finalized. However, the key aspects of the transfer operation have already been decided upon, and are mentioned below:
Agreement in Principle
According to Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona and Athletico Paranaense have an agreement in principle for the transfer of the young Brazilian. The player will cost Barcelona €35 million, while the club will also be liable to pay an extra €10 million if certain conditions are met.
Contract Length
The contract between FC Barcelona and the player Vitor Roque will be a long-term one, which will go on for five years, up to 2028.
Payment in Instalments
The two sides have agreed to facilities requested by Barcelona to pay for the striker in installments. Thus, Barcelona can spread the cost of the player over the next three years.
Deco’s Role
While he has not formally taken the charge of Director of Football at FC Barcelona yet, Deco played a leading role in negotiations for the agreement with Athletico Paranaense CEO Alexandre Mattos. He was also instrumental in the negotiations with the player’s agent, Andre Cury.
Release Clause
FC Barcelona consider Vitor Roque to be an essential component of their squad going forward, and this is indicated by the insertion of a €1 billion release clause in the striker’s contract.
Financial Fair Play Constraints
Despite the agreement in principle with Athletico Paranaense and with the player himself, it is not certain that the player will arrive in Catalonia this summer. The club is still facing problems with La Liga’s FFP rules, and has other players on priority for registration ahead of Vitor Roque.
As a result, the arrival of Roque can be put off till winter, even though Xavi and the coaching staff will prefer him to be available from the start of the next season.
Thus, FC Barcelona seem to be nearing one of their main objectives for this summer, as they have an agreement with the Brazilian Vitor Roque and his current club for his transfer. However, the club would have to make sales and get its finances in order to ensure they can bring the forward in for the start of the next season.
