With the end of the season, around seven loanees have returned to FC Barcelona as their loan contracts have expired. Now the club would be looking to decide the future of these players, with only Abde and Nico having a chance to continue with the team for next season.
Among these returning loanees, Alex Collado is one of the names, who played the last season with Elche. His loan stint at Elche did not help him get much prominence, and the Catalan club would be looking to get another loan or a permanent sale for him during this summer transfer window.
According to Mundo Deportivo, there is already a side interested in the youngster. This side is the La Liga club Las Palmas, who are currently being coached by the former Barcelona Atletic coach, Garcia Pimienta.
Collado and Pimienta have already worked together at the Barcelona Atletic, and the Las Palmas coach is currently looking for options to reinforce their squad before their preseason begins in July.
The report suggests that Pimienta would make an express request to his club to sign Alex Collado, whose contract with FC Barcelona runs up to 2024, and the Catalan club is open to selling him.
Contacts between the two parties have already taken place, as Collado’s agent, Albert Botines, has already held talks with Las Palmas, and is planning to meet them again in the coming days.
The player himself believes that his future lies away from Barcelona, and a reunion with Pimienta also excites him as the player shone under his tutelage.
If this transfer deal actually materializes, Barcelona will achieve one of the objectives for this summer transfer window. The club would then have to take care of its other fringe players to go into the next season with a healthy squad and healthy finances.
