The work being done by the management of FC Barcelona has received a lot of mixed reactions. Joan Laporta and his trusted group of board members have been working to solve the financial crisis at the club, but the results have not always looked good. However, at the very least, Barcelona continues to remain afloat.

Since arriving back at the club in 2021 and taking over the undeniable mess left behind by former Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu, Laporta had a huge hurdle to overcome if he wanted to make Barça sustainable again.

With some lackluster transfer windows and others that were rather blockbusters, Laporta has been doing quite some work at the club. However, not everyone has been a fan of his methods, and criticism of the way he has been running things has arguably never been louder than it is at this moment in time.

Yet, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, fellow La Liga side Rayo Vallecano’s president Raul Martin Presa is not among those that have critiqued the work of Joan Laporta so far. Instead, he remains an admirer of the way that Barcelona and Laporta have managed to sign players despite their problems:

“Rayo has to focus on its own work and not rely on others. Barcelona has other great players. Olmo was one of them in the last Euro Cup and will make the match difficult for us. It’s a significant signing for Barça and will raise their level. Let’s see if we can achieve a good result.”

Moreover, he also commended the way that the president has managed to incorporate the youth of the team and make a formidable squad in its own right:

“It seems they are doing an exceptional job with their youth academy, managing to promote players who perform at this level… Lamine Yamal, at 17, was one of the best in the last Euro Cup with a decisive role. There’s also Cubarsí…”

Undeniably, the youngsters of Barcelona have been the players who best define the team that Hansi Flick has ended up creating. However, regardless of whether it is praise or criticism that comes Laporta’s way, the president has a responsibility on his shoulders to make sure Barcelona thrives.
