It is almost a guarantee when it comes to FC Barcelona that the team will produce excellent talents almost every season. Thanks to La Masia and their wondrous production factory of talented gems, the Catalan club continues to live on. Fortunately for Barcelona, these players also seem capable of performing at the highest level.
Over the course of the club’s prestigious history, many young talents have emerged from the club’s academy and they have delivered countless unforgettable memories. That tradition lives on even today, and people who have seen the greats of Barcelona remain just as optimistic about this new generation as well.
One such individual would be Marcos Senna, a legend of La Liga side Villarreal and a European Champion with the Spanish National team back in 2008. For him, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona currently have a player at their disposal who he considers to be even better than Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Junior, a favorite for this year’s Ballon d’Or.
That player would be 17-year-old Lamine Yamal, who was Senna’s pick as the better of the two when he was asked to compare both of the La Liga stars from Barcelona and Real Madrid:
“Both are great players, but I like Lamine much more. The reason is his composure. When people asked me before if I preferred Messi or Cristiano, I always chose Messi because of that—because of the composure. He had more presence in the game, more variety in his passing… other qualities.”
For him, however, it is about the appeal of Yamal’s play and the way in which he goes about his football, something that Senna seems to enjoy more than what Vinicius has to offer:
“Vinicius sometimes makes incredible passes. The other day, he gave one to Rodrygo against Espanyol that looked like it came from Modric… but Lamine has a better shot, and his one-on-one play is more visually appealing. If he had Vinicius’ speed, he’d be the perfect dribbler.”
This season, as it stands, the €120 million-rated Barcelona star has been reaching new heights with almost every game that passes. From his goals to his assists and to every wonderful thing that he can conjure in between, the Barcelona star truly is something else. Moreover, this is not the first time he has been compared to Lionel Messi, nor will it be the last.
