In the world of football, perhaps no team understands the volatile nature of things more than Barcelona. Broken and bruised for great parts of this season, the Catalan club is beginning to improve gradually. In fact, out of nowhere, Barcelona find hope in La Liga again.

While others continue to falter and lose sight of their objectives, Barcelona continues to creep up. The latest victory against Getafe with a dominant 4-0 scoreline sees La Blaugrana climb back up temporarily to second place, and right behind Real Madrid once more.

Now, as highlighted by SPORT, Barcelona continues to pile up the pressure on their eternal rivals. Los Blancos have a 5-point cushion and a game in hand, but to keep their lead absolute they are now forced to ensure victory against Sevilla in their next encounter.

Moreover, as the report suggests, Real Madrid know that it is perhaps only Barcelona that can thwart their progression in La Liga. A competition that Barça are still the defending champions of, Xavi’s men do not intend to give up hope and just let Los Merengues tiptoe their way to the Spanish league title.

It is still a massive ask, given the difference in points, but Barcelona have showcased a reignited flame within them. Ever since Xavi made his decision to depart the club at the end of the season public, it seems that Barça has been playing with less pressure and a lot more freedom.

They continue to showcase their never-say-die attitude and continue to recover games in the dying minutes. Moreover, as they showed against Getafe, the team is also capable of dominating their opponents when they play their best football.

Every star is also beginning to showcase their best version again, and this helps the team even further. Lamine Yamal continues to ascend, Pau Cubarsi continues to surprise, Robert Lewandowski has found his goals again, De Jong continues to elevate those around him and the others also look to aspire in their own unique ways.

La Liga may be difficult, but Barcelona do not seem as if they intend to make it any easier for Real Madrid. The season still has time left, and both the Spanish League and the Champions League are competitions Barça want to make it far in. As such, it will now be exciting to see just how far Xavi’s side is willing to push itself.
