La Masia is known for developing high-quality footballers, and this source of talent for the club has been particularly productive in the last few years. A number of players have developed themselves at the Barcelona academy to gain a place in the first team.
Alejandro Balde, Pablo Gavi, and Ansu Fati come quickly to mind as the ones that showcase the level of potential growth and development provided by the Barcelona academy.
Another name that the expects to explode from La Masia in the coming seasons is that of Ilias Akhomach. The youngster has taken leaps of growth since arriving at La Masia and has also made some notable first-team appearances.
As a result, the Catalan club is trying to tie the youngster with themselves for the upcoming years, by offering him a new contract. His current contract expires this June, but, as reported by SPORT, the player and club greatly differ about his salary valuation, and the club is adamant that it will not break its salary structure for any academy player.
This situation has naturally attracted the attention of other top clubs towards the young player. AC Milan is reported to be the main candidate trying to lure Akhomach away from Barcelona, and have offered to make him a part of their first team right from the moment of the transfer. However, the player is still undecided about his next destination.
