Yesterday was a memorable day at FC Barcelona as one of the rising stars renewed his commitment to the club with a new contract. This new contract will keep the youngster associated with the Catalan club till 2026.
While this contract goes only for the next three years, the groundwork for further elongated stay at the club has also been laid as Yamal has already agreed to extend his contract till 2030 when he turns eighteen years of age.
The current contract is only for three years, as this is the maximum number of years that FIFA allows players of Yamal’s age category to sign.
Yamal renews with Barcelona
SPORT has reported some of the details of the contract renewal ceremony undertaken yesterday. Joan Laporta, Deco, and Rafa Yuste were all present at the event. The day will definitely be one to remember for Yamal, who has already become a crucial cog for Xavi in the current season despite being only sixteen years of age.
Aiming to win many titles
Yamal also spoke to the club’s channel at this event and showed his delight to remain associated with the Catalan club for more years to come:
“It has been a very long journey here at La Masia. It’s an honor for me and a dream to be able to spend three more years with my club. I am very happy and I hope I can experience the best moments with Barça.”
He was also asked about the most memorable moments of his career at Barcelona, and Yamal identified two of these moments as: “When I arrived at the club and when I made my debut with the first team.”
Lastly, Yamal also mentioned his dreams and aspirations with the Catalan club: “My dream is to win many titles with Barça.”
Yamal’s stay at the club has now officially been confirmed, and hopefully, he can keep on growing and developing as a player to fulfill the potential that he has shown up to now. He can already start contributing to achieving his dream of winning titles with Barcelona, as Xavi is giving him a prominent role in his squad.
