Just as the summer transfer window begins to heat up, FC Barcelona begin to get serious as well. While most players and coaches are currently fixated on the European Championship going on in Germany, top clubs continue to work on other operations. For Barcelona, that involves taking care of both sales and arrivals.

However, the world of football is hardly a straightforward one. Sometimes, it is through personal connections between players that some individuals end up being convinced to make transfer decisions as well. Fortunately for Barcelona, one of their major targets this summer happens to be a good friend of many Barça players.

While talking in an interview with SPORT, 16-year-old Barcelona prodigy Lamine Yamal was asked to answer some questions. One of those questions directly asked the Barcelona youngster if he would like to see Nico Williams join him at the Catalan club:

“Yes, I hope Nico would come to Barça.”

This question came after several that complimented the two wingers that Spain has, and with Barcelona now hoping to unite Yamal and Williams at the Catalan club, it comes as no surprise that a lot of major speculation is following around the two young wide forwards.

For the Athletic Club winger, who is only aged 21 himself, the decision is a major one. He has renewed with the Basque club already and currently only wishes to focus on the Euros with Spain, as they look to face off against Georgia in the Round of 16 as well.

The complete interview conducted by Sport also tackled many other subjects as well. From the words of a certain Bayern Munich icon praising Lamine Yamal to his relations in the Spanish National team setup, the young Barcelona winger was asked to speak on a variety of different topics.

However, the news about Nico Williams certainly stands out. Given how close both the Spanish wingers are, something that was brought up in the interview as well, it would not be far-fetched to imagine the two wonderkids having talked about it at some point.

For now, however, both the FC Barcelona prodigy and the Athletic Club winger would prefer to focus on the crucial game up ahead.
