Barcelona youngster Lamine Yamal

Barcelona youngster and La Masia jewel Lamine Yamal just recently became Barca’s youngest debutant in La Liga history. The player, being aged 15 years and 290 days old, created history when he was substituted in for Gavi in the game against Real Betis in the Catalan’s La Liga Santander clash.

Lamine Yamal recently gave an interview in which he was asked a few questions regarding his debut and here is how he responded.

Yamal on his Barcelona debut:

“There were so many emotions at the same time against Real Betis. When I entered the pitch it was incredible to see the Spotify Camp Nou. But little by little I overcame my nerves and tried to feel as comfortable as possible.”

Yamal on being the youngest player in La Liga history:

“My teammates also helped me a lot and I am grateful to them. I am very happy to have broken the record, but I want to break many more. I dedicate this to my family, friends, and everyone who has been with me from the beginning.”

Yamal on Xavi’s words:

“Xavi told me to take the first steps to gain confidence and, if I could, to go out and do what I normally do. That’s what I tried to do. My teammates told me the same thing and when the game ended, they congratulated me.”

Yamal on his preferred position:

“I feel more comfortable playing on the right flank. In the final third, I’m creative and quite skillful.”
