Barcelona have their subsidiary teams currently all-encompassed in their respective objectives for the season. Juvenil A, in particular, is very much like its first-team counterpart in the sense that it aims to capture the Juvenil division’s Spanish league title. Moreover, it may just be their hero of the hour that could one day soar under the lights of Camp Nou while representing the first team.
Lamine Yamal returned to the Juvenil A side following a sanction that saw him sidelined for the past few games due to some disciplinary issues that led to the Spanish federation and his club, FC Barcelona, agreeing on punishing him as such.
Playing against Mallorca’s Juvenil A side, the Catalans engaged in a nail-biting encounter that had their lead at the top of the table at stake. By halftime, Barcelona were heavily on the backfoot by being down 1-3. The singular goal by that point had been Lamine Yamal’s contribution.
Following the commencement of the second half, Barcelona coach Oscar Lopez made some game-defining changes that saw the team revitalized as a result. From being 1-3 down, the Catalans managed a heroic comeback to draw the game level at 3-3.
However, that was not to be the closing move. Lamine Yamal would go on to showcase just why he remains so sought after by the club and their subsequent intentions to retain his services for years to come. The youngster would go on to score once more and give his side the win in a 4-3 victory of essential importance.
They now sit atop the table with 63 points from 27 games, 5 points ahead of second-placed Zaragoza who have played the same number of games. 3 games left to play in the league now, and it seems Oscar Lopez’s side has a huge shot at coming out of the season as Division champions.
