The second part of the documentary “FC Barcelona: A New Era” has been released, which provides some unique insights into the inside life of the club. The documentary premiered last Wednesday on Amazon Prime.
As already reported here, the documentary focuses on some very interesting events and times at the club. For instance, it provides the viewers a glimpse of what went on in the club when they drew the first match of the last season, and also how the benching, and later departure, of veterans like Jordi Alba impacted Xavi.
Laporta reflects on the league win
As SPORT has noted, the closing scene of the last chapter of the documentary provides another interesting insight into the club, but this time focuses on the future.
In this last scene, the club President, Joan Laporta, appears with the head coach, Xavi Hernandez. Laporta is looking very satisfied and proud, and goes on to say: “We are in a new era, the era of Xavi.” The President then describes the La Liga title won last season as a “historic league title” for the club.
Laporta concludes the scene by commenting: “We are privileged to be able to live in this new era; it will be glorious and one of the best in Barcelona’s history,” Both the individuals on the scene agree on the importance of the league title won last season.
Xavi remembers the suffering
Xavi is also shown extremely satisfied and proud of his achievement but is somewhat more restrained. His actions and words also show a hint of dissatisfaction at how things have gone last season, as he comments: “I’ve enjoyed it a lot, but I’ve also suffered a great deal. We need to play better, but it’s a matter of time and patience.”
The league won last season was definitely a title to remember as the Catalan team fought against great odds to become the Champions of Spain after some seasons. Barcelona would now be hoping to build on this victory and get rid of its bad luck in the Champions League this season, while also retaining the league title.
