FC Barcelona currently harbor a promising crop of young talents. One of their recent signings, Julian Araujo, was acquired to fortify the right-back position. However, with the player arriving from Major League Soccer, he lacks experience in top-flight football, which is something the club is looking to solve.
According to Matteo Moretto of RELEVO, Las Palmas are now in the strongest position to recruit the Mexican right back as Barcelona and Las Palmas are negotiating the loan of Julián Araujo to the recently promoted La Liga team.
Araujo has reportedly not entered Xavi’s plans after showcasing his current skillset under the watchful eye of Xavi Hernandez. As a result, experience at a Spanish side to further hone his skills before he can make the leap to Barcelona is something that appeals to all parties.
Garcia Pimienta, formerly the coach of Barcelona’s youth ranks, is interested in the player and could play a pivotal role in developing him.
As a reinforcement for their right-back position, Barca acquired Julián Araujo from the Los Angeles Galaxy during the winter transfer window. He hasn’t yet played in any official game with the first team, though, which implies chances for him next season will be scarce.
Barcelona have already conducted business with Las Palmas in the past, with the debt of Pedri’s payment also yet to be settled. They could use Araujo as a chip in negotiations.
For now, in the event the transfer materializes, Barcelona will have minimal options at right-back and may continue to scour the market for more opportunities. Kounde is expected to handle the reigns, but it remains to be seen whether he will be displaced by a more naturally suited player for the position.
