The summer transfer window is still not over and FC Barcelona remain as involved in it as ever. La Blaugrana knew beforehand that they would have certain objectives this summer, both in terms of arrivals and departures. So far, however, Barcelona has made the bare minimum of progress in either type of operations.
While it is true that the Catalan club has now guaranteed the signing of RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo, it seems that Barça do not have any plans of calling it quits in terms of transfer operations right there. The acquisition of the 26-year-old Spanish forward is a good start, but it does not conclude their business.
Over on the departure side of things, Barcelona have a few names that continue to attract a lot of interest. The latest player to attract external interest is none other than 20-year-old Mikayil Faye, one of the most promising defenders at Barça and also for the Senegalese National team.
According to journalist Santi Aouna, the latest interest for Faye come from Ligue 1. Both AS Monaco and Nice have already expressed their desire to approach the player and Monaco have apparently already taken the primary step to initiate the first round of talks with Barcelona and the player’s entourage.
Previously, Nice have already made a first offer for the player and their interest is taken as being concrete. The player himself, however, is now finally get the first team opportunities at Barça that he seems to have always craved. Under the leadership of Hansi Flick, he got his chance to shine during the preseason tour of the United States.
However, only time will tell what the player ends up deciding for his own future. With Ronald Araujo still injured, there are spots available in the first team for any player who can step up and take them. Moreover, given that the Uruguayan star may remain sidelined until December, Faye would get a lot of time to improve his standing within the first team.
