With Robert Lewandowski already 35 years old by the time the next season starts, FC Barcelona have to plan for a long-term solution to their center-forward position.
The club has identified the Brazilian Vitor Roque as the player to play this role in the team, and the player himself is continuing with his blistering form to gain the attention of the footballing world.
Roque is continually impressing with his form in Brazil and has scored six goals in 12 games in the Brazilian Serie A, scoring in three last games consecutively. A change of coach in his club, Atletico Paranaense, is also expected to further facilitate his offensive game, as the new coach, Wesley Carvalho, plays a more attacking football.
As reported by Mundo Deportivo, commenting on his game style and future prospects of Vitor Roque with FC Barcelona, Carvalho claimed that Roque would particularly shine with a team that has an attacking mentality and tries to actively control the game and take it to the opponents.
Roque’s previous coach, Paulo Turra, had also given his assessment of the player and highlighted the three major strengths of his game. The former Atletico Paranaense coach identified the player’s strength, attacking style, speed, and explosiveness as the qualities that make him an exceptionally effective forward.
Former Manchester City midfielder, Fernandinho, also encouraged Barcelona to sign the talented striker. He claimed that FC Barcelona would not be too wrong to go for the youngster this summer, and the current growth trajectory of the player shows that he is going to be an impressive player on the international and club level.
Thus, as Roque is playing more matches, his worth and the number of his admirers is increasing. FC Barcelona already have an agreement in principle to sign the player, and would be hoping that the Brazilian is able to replicate his current form whenever he joins the FC Barcelona squad.
