It would appear that the summer transfer window will likely end on a low note for FC Barcelona. Beyond the arrival of Dani Olmo, La Blaugrana have been unable to guarantee the arrival of any major signings. Moreover, even the registration of the new Barcelona arrival was a headache of its own to deal with.
Both the frustrations caused by registration issues and the inability to sign players seem to have stemmed from Barça’s Financial Fairplay problems. These deep-rooted issues have continued to plague Barcelona in recent years and they continue to be just as bothersome even these days.
In fact, it is because of these FFP-related issues that the Catalan giants will likely be unable to sign a replacement for Marc Bernal. Following the young Barcelona gem’s recent injury, there was a lot of speculation about the club’s next move in the transfer market and it just so happened to be one connected to a certain Liverpool youngster.
Stefan Bajcetic, a 19-year-old Spaniard who represents Liverpool’s first team, was the player who Barcelona ended up sending a loan bid for, as confirmed by Fabrizio Romano. Now, however, the deal looks like an unlikely possibility due to the involvement of FFP and the fact that it continues to block La Blaugrana from making moves in the market.
Regarding the interest from Barcelona, as highlighted by Romano on his X account, Bajcetic’s father recently spoke out publicly and admitted that it was surprising:
“We didn’t expect Barça to enter the race… we have all ready to go to Salzburg. But we still don’t have any info on what’s gonna happen.”
Moreover, he also stated that he would want his son to play for a club like Barcelona: “I’d like Stefan to play for a top club like Barça or same Liverpool, he’s ready for top clubs.”
By the looks of it, the consent of the player’s father seems to be right where Barcelona needs it to be. However, their own internal issues continue to allow great market opportunities to slip away from the Catalan club and Bajcetic may just be the latest name to end up going down that same route. At the moment, a potential move to RB Salzburg looks to be the most likely outcome of this ongoing transfer saga concerning the midfielder.
