FC Barcelona currently houses some of Europe’s most elite young talents. Many of these promising youngsters have even come out of the club’s own youth academy. Without the presence of these aspiring gems, Barcelona would not have the same sense of achievement that they still possess today.
The pedigree of the Catalan club is what is it today all thanks to the generational youngsters they have produced over the years. In this current generation, perhaps no young talent has the same level of quality and decisiveness as 17-year-old Lamine Yamal.
Already a record-breaker at the European Championship and across many other competitions, it is hardly surprising to see the player get blasted with praise from everywhere. The latest man to have been revealed to have done the same just so happens to be Uli Hoeneß, an honorary president of Bayern Munich.
However, as Mundo Deportivo has revealed, he did so in a manner that also critiqued Bayern Munich fullback Alphonso Davies: “Look at how he plays! On the left and right. I would have liked Alphonso Davies to be able to do that too.”
While Yamal may have been key in defeating the likes of England, Germany, and France, it seems that the Bayern Munich board member certainly had other agendas to appeal to while making the statement that he did. At the moment, Davies’s future is in an uncertain place, and these recent words from Hoeneß certainly do not help matters.
Speaking about the Euros even apart from the Barcelona youngster, the Bayern Munich head talked about Spain at length and how he believes they were the deserving winners.
“The Spaniards deserved to win, I was a bit disappointed with the French. But overall, I found the European Championship very entertaining. What I liked most about the preliminary round was the attacking football. In fact, I never saw a game where one team simply faded into the background.”
Bayern and Barcelona were not completely inseparable this summer, either. In fact, one of the first names that was linked to the Catalan club for this transfer window just so happened to be Joshua Kimmich. However, that deal seems to no longer be possible for Barça to execute given that they have other priorities.
