The current campaign is still far from over for FC Barcelona as they continue to trudge onwards. La Blaugrana must still face upcoming challenges in both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League. However, Barcelona must also remain aware of their limitations.

This becomes crucial as they still do not have their entire squad back from injuries. Certain stars, such as Gavi and Alejandro Balde, are expected to remain sidelined for the rest of the campaign. Others, however, are expected to be back in time to help Barcelona.

The likes of Pedri and Frenkie de Jong will not take much longer to be available again. Moreover, even Ronald Araujo took part in the latest training session with his Barcelona teammates.

However, as Mundo Deportivo points out, a certain Dane has still not recovered from his discomfort and continues to remain away from the pitch.

Andreas Christensen, Xavi’s primary pivot at the moment, remains sidelined for now. The Danish defender continues to suffer from the discomfort he first felt prior to the clash against Atletico Madrid.

As a result of that same discomfort, he was unable to join his Danish teammates during the international break as well.

This, coupled with the fact that Araujo could use some rest as well, puts Xavi in a less-than-ideal position. Before the clash against Paris Saint-Germain even comes around, Barcelona must first get through Las Palmas.

La Liga is not completely given upon just yet, so Xavi’s selection for that game remains important. To remain close to Real Madrid, victory is a must. That is where the name of Mikayil Faye could potentially come in handy.

The in-form Senegalese talent could potentially come in place of Christensen and offer Xavi a new name to count on. Ultimately, Barcelona need a victory against Las Palmas first, and alternatives may have to be deployed.
