It is always in the best interests of FC Barcelona to keep an eye on the world’s best players. As any top club would do, they ensure that the biggest names remain linked to the biggest clubs. However, despite their financial woes, Barcelona continue to try to stay a step ahead of the curve.

For La Blaugrana, there is no urgent need to invest in a superstar signing right away. Yet, looking ahead to the future, the need for one at Barcelona may become vital with the resurgence of the Barça brand and the new Camp Nou. For this particular objective, it seems that Joan Laporta has a certain Norwegian in mind.

According to SPORT, the links between Barcelona and the entourage of Erling Haaland continue to exist. The Catalan giants, albeit later on and close to 2025, hope to recruit the 23-year-old Manchester City ace at some point.

Furthermore, they reveal now that Spain and La Liga are even a dream destination for the Barcelona target playing in Manchester. This makes the interest from Barcelona to bring him over even more exciting from the perspective of the Catalan club.

Unfortunately, however, they will not be doing so without any resistance. The main rival for the team from Barcelona will be none other than their eternal rivals. Real Madrid, under the watchful eye of Florentino Perez, continues to work their way forward in silence. Even beyond the possible arrival of French star Kylian Mbappe, Perez wants to add Haaland to his collection.

Alf-Inge Haaland, the Norwegian striker’s father, has also kept tabs on both Barcelona and their rivals from Madrid. Both him and his son are aware of his wishes to one day play in La Liga and Spain, and that is something they continue to work on.

Despite the dominance of Manchester City, the Citizens are far from being safe from trouble. Certain sanctions on them due to breaches in financial fair play are considered practically just a matter of when and not if. With heavy sanctions expected to be imposed, Haaland’s entourage is already looking for a way out at some point.

That is where both Barcelona and Real Madrid come in. In the case of La Blaugrana, the financial means to access such an operation are currently not there. However, by 2025, Barcelona believe that they will be ready with the appropriate funds and stable economy to finally pursue Haaland’s arrival and give Joan Laporta his dream signing to rival Mbappe’s potential unveiling as a Galactico.
