It is no secret that Barcelona currently possess a plethora of some of Europe’s most talented players. Many of those have been raised and developed within their own youth academy and subsidiary. Moreover, many of those Barcelona prodigies have broken through to the first team this season.

Lamine Yamal, Marc Guiu, Fermin Lopez, and Hector Fort are just a few of the names. Their extraordinary talents are already enticing other interested sides. However, perhaps the most unique evolution among those youngsters is that of 17-year-old Pau Cubarsi.

His age, coupled with the fact that he is a central defender, makes him an anomaly of sorts. Players at his age are rarely ever given the trust to play as a central defender, a position that even the most experienced of players can make mistakes in that can cost the team a lot.

However, beyond just his exceptional quality and ability to turn around entire passages of play, there is also his price tag. Reportedly, Cubarsi has an active release clause worth €10 million. This, coupled with the fact that teams were already interested in his quality as a player, makes Barça’s objective to retain him even more troublesome.

Consequently, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the player is now on the agenda of some Premier League giants. The interest, and originality from England, are especially problematic knowing the vast amount of resources and finances backing up the interested parties in question.

The first of the two reported suitors is London-based club Chelsea. Owned by American billionaire and investor Todd Boehly, the English outfit has no problems when it comes to spending big, or even small.

Moreover, with their current dissatisfaction with many of their active defenders, Cubarsi’s name becomes quite appealing to them even though they have reportedly been following him since quite some time.

The other side reported to be interested in the signature of Pau Cubarsi is Manchester City. Defending champions of both England and Europe, Manchester City provide both sporting excellence and financial guarantees. Pep Guardiola, a legendary player and former coach of Barcelona himself, has reportedly also personally been quite invested in Cubarsi’s skills before this season.
