Although the results have not always gone in their favor, one aspect that FC Barcelona will be very happy about this season is how their academy graduates are performing.

Youngsters like Pau Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal have showcased their exceptional talents at the highest level with Barcelona, while other players like Fermin Lopez, Marc Guiu, and Hector Fort have also shown very encouraging signs of growth.

Furthermore, these good performances from academy players are not limited to the Barcelona team, as some of their academy graduates are also performing at a very high level at other clubs.

This is certainly the case with Mika Marmol, who, after establishing himself as a key part of the UD Las Palmas team, is now attracting the interest of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

As SPORT has reported, the Premier League side Manchester City is interested in the young defender and has already undertaken contact with the player’s agent, Josep Maria Orobitg. However, the report further mentions that this signing will be more for the City Group rather than for Manchester City in particular.

If the deal ultimately goes through, he can join any of the group’s clubs to continue with his growth. Girona can also be an option for the young defender in such a case. The player himself will be keen to such a move, as this would allow him to play in the Champions League.

Marmol first rose to prominence when he made his debut under Xavi Hernandez in a match against Getafe in 2022. However, he was allowed to join Andorra later that year, while Barcelona kept a 50% share on any future fee paid for him.

Barcelona still retains this percentage though the 22-year-old defender has now joined Las Palmas. Thus, if a sale to the City Group is finalized this summer, Barcelona can stand to gain a significant amount from such a move.
