There is no doubt about the uncertainty that lies in the near future of FC Barcelona. The Blaugranes are not exactly in the most stable of projects, already aware of the disruptions that are coming. Within Barcelona, any semblance of guaranteed continuity would actually be rather appreciated right now.

With Xavi having already stated his intentions to leave in the summer, there is the managerial position to worry about. Beyond just the board itself, even players within the locker room have been left impacted by it greatly and conflicted over it as a consequence.

Many key players currently within the team arrived through the request of Xavi himself. As such, even their continuities at the club began to be shrouded in uncertainty. However, one key player has just recently revealed that his desire to remain at Barcelona stays strong, despite the fact that he is still just on loan.

As confirmed by reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester City loanee Joao Cancelo has stated his desire to remain at Barcelona beyond this season when asked about it: “Yes, yes – I do.”

The 29-year-old Portuguese fullback remains one of the few bright spots for Barcelona this season. Arguably having been the most impactful fullback this season, he is still just a loan player whose continuity will have to be negotiated between Barcelona and Manchester City.

Fortunately for the Catalan giants, the player himself seems willing to remain. Moreover, his agent, Jorge Mendes, continues to maintain good ties with Barcelona and would be willing to help make his continuity a reality. As it stands, however, a lot of the possibility of everything surrounding Cancelo’s future is yet to be finally agreed upon.

While Alejandro Balde remains injured, the versatility of the Portuguese star has also been crucial. Very few talents like Cancelo continue to exist in the world of football, and Barcelona would do well to retain him. Given the lack of quality fullbacks in the current market, Cancelo’s acquisition could end up being a bargain.
