In light of various departures, Barcelona intend to make progress within the summer transfer market to recruit new arrivals that would aid Xavi Hernandez and his side in becoming a more competitive unit overall.
The latest of targets set by FC Barcelona are both currently plying their trades for English Premier League champions Manchester City, and one of the two in particular will cause the Citizens a headache to replace in terms of style and quality.
That particular player is none other than Portuguese star and Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva. Barcelona continue to insist on the arrival of the 28-year-old star in light of the departure of their own French winger, Ousmane Dembele.
As a result of the interest by Barcelona, Manchester City are moving already within the market to find an adequate replacement, and they seem to have found one within the Premier League itself, according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The latest target for Manchester City is Crystal Palace midfielder Michael Olise, with the 21-year-old heavily attracting the interest of the Blues of Manchester, as per MD and The Athletic.
With the departure of Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez already confirmed to Al-Ahli, and the possible departure of Bernardo Silva to Barcelona also shaping up, the Citizens are unwilling to be left at a position in the market where they are unable to reinforce their own side.
As per the various sources quoted, Manchester City would be willing to spend close to €40 million on the 21-year-old midfielder in order to lure him away from Crystal Palace.
However, this by no means is an indication that the pursuit of Bernardo Silva will be an easy one for FC Barcelona. The Catalans will have to be financially capable of executing the operation of the Portuguese and the demands of Manchester City will be significant.
