While already having signed Ilkay Gundogan, FC Barcelona are still in the market for an attacking midfielder. The midfielder Blaugranes are pursuing is one they have been trying to sign for the last few years.
This player in question is the Portuguese Bernardo Silva, whom Mundo Deportivo reports to be waiting for an offer from Barcelona. The report claims that the Portuguese superstar is an option for FC Barcelona, and the top decision-makers at the club, including Laporta and Xavi, and the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, all want to try such a move.
Xavi likes Silva a lot and has been desirous of getting him since he came to the Barcelona dugout. However, this time, the player himself is keen to move to Catalonia and dreams of wearing the FC Barcelona jersey. He has stopped his agents from listening to other offers coming from PSG and clubs from Saudi Arabia.
However, Silva does not want to wait till the end of the market to move and expects Barcelona to make a formal approach soon. The player has other offers on the table and wants the Catalan giants to quickly make a move so he can get his future sorted as soon as possible. Moving well before the end of the transfer market would also allow Manchester City to replace him in the summer easily.
Jorge Mendes, the main mover of this operation, brought up the possibility of signing the Portuguese in a recent meeting with the club. From here, Xavi was taken on board, who also favored such an operation.
Meanwhile, Silva has a commitment with Guardiola that Manchester City will let him leave if a good offer arrives. The player was valued at €80 million last year. Barcelona are contemplating a loan with a mandatory purchase option, allowing them to remain within the confines of La Liga FFP.
However, it remains to be seen whether the Citizens would accept such an offer. Deco and Alemany would be leading the negotiations, and they already have worked with the Manchester City decision-makers Pep Guardiola, Ferran Soriano, and Txiki Begiristain for years.
