FC Barcelona continue to monitor the market in search of good transfer opportunities. The Catalan giants are in a tough spot financially, and cannot afford to lose out on good market prospects.
One of the main names that has recently emerged is that of Julian Alvarez of Manchester City. The 23-year-old Argentinian is among the elite young strikers of the modern age. Already having won the World Cup, as well as a continental treble, Alvarez boasts quite an impressive resume.
Rumored release clause
Recent reports have emerged stating that the player has a release clause of €50 million. While these reports are beginning to pile up, there is still skepticism about the actual release clause. However, a recent report has come out with a valuation that City themselves currently sit upon.
€100 million valuation
According to Adrian Sanchez, Manchester City currently value Julian Alvarez at over €100 million. This valuation places Alvarez among the highest-valued players in the world. The likes of Jude Bellingham, Pedri, Vinicius Jr, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe are just a few other names that would meet his value.
In the scenario that the €50 million release clause does end up being factual, all aspiring clubs will rush towards it. A player of such quality and value would be available at a bargain price. Yet, in the scenario that the release clause does not come into consideration, only a select few clubs would even dream of paying what City wants.
Waiting for Roque
Moreover, Barcelona already have Vitor Roque to look forward to. The Brazilian prodigy continues to recover from his injury and expects to be in Barcelona either in January or the summer of 2024.
The agreement in place with Athletico Paranaense will see Barça pay upwards of €30 million to acquire his services. Such a figure is a clear indication of the faith the Catalan club has in the talents of the 18-year-old forward.
