The financial problems of FC Barcelona are hardly a well-kept secret in the footballing world. Almost every ally and competitor is aware of their vulnerabilities, and they are easy to manipulate and take advantage of. Unfortunately for Barcelona, there is little they can do about it except continue to work on improving their finances.

However, something that the Catalan giants can do to boost that progress is make significant sales. While Barcelona would not be willing to sell just about any star player without good reason, some players are simply not considered to be necessary enough for the club to not sell if a good enough offer arrives.

Such could be the case for Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who is currently recovering from his injury. Apparently, as per the latest update from SPORT, Premier League side Manchester United would be more than happy to make the Dutchman their next big priority target during the summer window.

In recent weeks, current Manchester United head coach Erik ten Hag has been quite insistent on reuniting some of his Ajax prodigies over at the English club. Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui are the latest names to join his squad, and it is one that includes other players who formerly belonged to Ajax as well.

By reuniting these players, ten Hag wishes to recreate the success that his Ajax side of 2019 enjoyed and the promise it showcased. Unfortunately for him, however, it would appear that Frenkie de Jong remains as convinced as ever that his place is in Barcelona and that is where he would like to continue.

The advances that the Red Devils have made in the past for the Dutch midfielder have not amounted to much. However, Barcelona would reportedly be open to entertaining offers for the player that exceed the €60 million mark at the very least. As for the player himself, it seems that convincing him to leave would be the hard part.
