FC Barcelona have had their fair share of injuries to deal with this season and it has hardly made things easy for them. Instead, these constant injuries have resulted in the Catalan club needing to make adjustments simultaneously as the season progressed. Fortunately, it has not ended up costing Barcelona thus far.

However, that does not mean that injuries are always welcome or that they can be dealt with easily. Instead, the club is working towards making sure that they can control these things as much as possible to ensure that their players are available at Hansi Flick’s orders whenever he needs them.

Unfortunately, there are some mishaps that can simply not be avoided no matter how much the club tries. Such was the case for 17-year-old defender Pau Cubarsi, who ended up suffering a horror challenge in the last game against Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League that resulted in him needing multiple stitches to close the wound.

Ahead of the latest training session, however, the player was set to try out a new protective mask in order to feel it out and check if he was comfortable enough in it to play the next game. Now, following the final training session ahead of the game against La Real, things are much clearer.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Pau Cubarsi finished the training session with great sensations and felt as ready as ever to compete in the next game. From his side and according to his personal level, the youngster is fully ready to commit to the upcoming La Liga clash.

Moreover, the update suggests that the player is even in contention to start alongside Inigo Martinez and the only thing that can stop him from doing so would be Hansi Flick himself. It is now upto the German coach to decide if he is willing to start the La Masia talent now that the player has proven himself to be capable of participating.

Many Barcelona defenders have worn protective masks in the past, and it is perhaps the sign of any player who is completely committed to the cause. However, given how young the defender is irrespective of how talented he is, some precaution may not be a bad thing. Ultimately, however, the final decision lies with the Barcelona head coach.
