Julian Araujo, current right back for MLS side LA Galaxy, was among the players that FC Barcelona had on their agenda as last-minute signings during the January winter transfer window in 2023 alongside players like Sofyan Amrabat.
However, due to some last-minute complications that resulted in the official documentation for the player being, as per multiple reports, “18 seconds late”, the signing was not able to materialize during the winter window in accordance with FIFA’s guidelines.
Yet despite these frustrating circumstances, the 21-year-old Mexican International is touted to find his way to Barcelona in time. Mateu Alemany, FC Barcelona’s director of football, has himself stated the following: “Julian Araujo was a signing for Barça Atlètic. We count on him for next year, we are trying to solve if he can come for now, we have appealed to the TAD.”
Alemany clearly emphasizes on the player’s allegiance and belonging to FC Barcelona and how some short-term alternatives will be considered to keep the young Mexican occupied until FC Barcelona can progress his official signing in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Come June, and FC Barcelona will then be legally allowed to register the signing with full authority and ability. Until then, the young fullback will potentially have to be occupied elsewhere for the 5 months in between, possibly even playing at another club for the time being.
