Barcelona will be looking to build on their La Liga triumph as they look to bolster the squad in the transfer window. One of the main objectives of FC Barcelona for the upcoming summer transfer window is bringing back their legend Lionel Messi to the club.
This operation is in no way easy and would require a lot of financial wizardry from the club, but the present outlook on this transfer is positive.
According to a report from SPORT, the club has carried out an internal survey of its economic condition to gain a better idea of whether it would be possible to bring Messi back to his boyhood club, and how his return would impact this financial situation.
SPORT claims that it has accessed the report, and the personnel at the publication are as surprised by this report as the club executives. The report claims that Messi’s return would provide a huge financial injection to the club, as it is expected to result in an income of €230 million every year.
Around €150 million would be raised by the new sponsorships that would come when Messi gets back to the club. Similarly, the attendance levels will also receive a boost, with Messi being on the pitch, which will result in increased ticket sales. Sales of Messi’s shirts would be another source of income for the club.
This estimation of the income that Messi will generate has been undertaken keeping in view the Argentine’s impact on the finances of PSG. The Paris-based club saw a 13% increase in sponsorship income and a 60% increase in shirt sales since Messi joined the club two years ago.
This financial injection yet does not take into account the sporting benefits that Messi would bring to the club. The player has an average goal-scoring rate greater than that of Mbappe or Haaland this season, and Xavi is particularly keen to get Messi in the team to make Barcelona compete in Europe again.
Thus, keeping in view the financial and sporting benefits from his arrival, the club is giving its all to get their legendary Argentine back into the club this summer.
