Earning a place in the first team of FC Barcelona is never an easy task. With the club already possessing a plethora of talented options, players often have to fight for their own place. However, certain stars decide it is best to gain that attention away from Barcelona, at least temporarily.
The case of Julian Araujo is thus a peculiar one. Bought by Barcelona in February 2023, a late registration of his contract left some complications unresolved. As such, the player was forced to only train with Barcelona and not actually appear in official games.
While this formula was fine for a bit, the player ultimately knew he had to gain experience. As such, in August of this year, he decided to move to UD Las Palmas on loan. A deal that was wrapped up quite quickly, the player is now showcasing impressive displays with the side.
As highlighted by SPORT, the player is gradually catching the eye of Barcelona again. For the club, his performances this season assure them that he is a dependable right-back. A position that they are already understaffed in, Barcelona are certain that they need more players to fill that spot.
While Joao Cancelo does remain the primary player that Barça will look to invest in, Julian Araujo is seen as a great option to provide backup. Already having scored twice for Las Palmas across the Copa Del Ray and La Liga, Araujo has cemented himself as a proper starter for Garcia Pimienta’s Las Palmas.
Playing some of the most exciting football across Europe, this iteration of Las Palmas loves possession. Already having one of the highest average ball possession percentages across the major leagues, it was no easy ask for Araujo to retain a starting position within this team.
However, that is exactly what he has managed to do. Despite the new setting and an obvious leap in quality from America, the Mexican international has adapted well. It does not seem to be much long from now before he is wearing Barcelona colors again.
Coincidentally, he even recently admitted his desire to return to Barcelona publicly. Knowing that any possibility can exist following his loan, the player assured ESPN that his goal remains to return to his parent club through his proven capability and merit. Only time will tell, but he seems to be on the right track.
