Mikayil Faye impresses Barcelona coaching staff during first week of training

When a talented youngster at FC Barcelona exudes positive vibes, a wave of excitement and anticipation ripples through the Camp Nou faithful, creating an electrifying atmosphere filled with hope and boundless possibilities for the Blaugrana.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the newly acquired 19-year-old Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye has showcased bright attributes in the opening training sessions held under Xavi, as the team prepares for an eventful pre-season United States tour.

While Faye has signed for Barca Atletic, he is secured with a release clause of €400 million. The left-footed central defender, who has been working with the senior squad since July 10, has reportedly made an instant impression through his gifted physical attributes, particularly with his aerial presence.

However, as is the case with most young talents who come from abroad, there is still area for improvement in terms of tactical, technical, and positional skills. Due to his strong fundamentals, Faye’s weaknesses in this aspect do not ring alarm bells.

In fact, Ronald Araujo faced similar setbacks when he arrived as a youngster from Boston River. Experience with the coaches of FC Barcelona led to him eventually gaining expertise in his ball-playing abilities, and now he ranks as an innate distributive presence.

The price tag of Faye’s transfer ranges from €1.3 million to €1.5 million. While joining the first team on their tour of the United States, the initial plan for the promising talent is to nurture his skills and growth within the dynamics of Barca Atletic during the upcoming season.

If Faye showcases excellence on the tour, it is not ruled out that he features more often with the first team in the upcoming season. After all, Pedri’s bright pre-season saved him from the hassle of plying his trade with the juniors.
