The arrival of German coach Hansi Flick at FC Barcelona has been positively received. While the departure of Xavi Hernandez was not a sweet goodbye, Flick’s arrival is indeed a welcome arrival. After a rather long time, a truly well-decorated coach takes charge at Barcelona.

Known primarily for the history he made with his Bayern Munich team, the German coach’s arrival promises to bring more maturity and experience. However, another trademark of Flick’s that had a lot of supporters excited was the physical aspect that he seems to improve in any team he coaches.

Fortunately for Barça, that seems to be exactly the kind of reputation that he wanted to live up to. According to AS, the nature of Flick’s training sessions and the demanding nature of his program has brought back a sight to the club that seemed to have been last seen when Luis Enrique was in charge.

While it may be too early to demand historic trebles from Hansi Flick already, it is at least clear that the work ethic that he brings to the club is appreciated. This new training regime and its subsequent demands have ushered in a new sense of physical fitness at Barcelona.

Previously, the coach even included new medical examinations such as that of dental checkups. Such innovations are new to Barcelona, despite their existence being noted in various sports across the world. However, it is exactly this attention to detail that makes Hansi Flick the kind of coach he is.

Since his arrival, the team has already participated in 13 training sessions. Most of these have even come in the form of double sessions on the same day. Moreover, it would appear that the new Barcelona coach certainly is not too fond of days off, as the players have barely been given any such concessions.

The primary reason, however, as to why Flick wants to get the most out of his players early on is due to the upcoming preseason tour of the United States of America.

This tour will not give the team the same kind of comfort to conduct their regular training sessions due to various reasons such as travel and extra fatigue, and that is why Flick is hoping to get a total of twenty sessions in before the eventual tour.

The latest players to join his training will be Robert Lewandowski and Andreas Christensen. Others such as Raphinha, Ilkay Gundogan, and Marc-Andre Ter Stegen will also join soon enough before the team departs for the United States of America.
