There is expected to be a new wave of changes within the technical areas of FC Barcelona. The Catalan club is currently in a lot of dismay, and there is seemingly no guarantee for anyone there. However, as more time passes, it would appear that a certain coach is becoming a popular option at Barcelona.
As per several reports in recent days, German coach Hansi Flick may end up taking over at FC Barcelona. The former Bayern Munich coach and sextuple winner seems to have a lot of the higher-ups at the club pleased with his coaching history, style, and desire to win.
However, Flick would not be arriving at Barcelona to coach a total crop of strangers. Ilkay Gundogan is someone who has already played under his mentorship in the German National team, and Polish ace Robert Lewandowski has already broken many records under his guidance at Bayern.
Furthermore, according to Achraf Ben Ayad, the former Bayern Munich coach and potential new Barcelona head coach will be looking to count on Robert Lewandowski heading into next season. He believes that the Polish forward still has a lot to give, and will look to drain out every last bit of quality in him.
That should hardly come as a surprise, however, considering Lewandowski’s lethal levels as a footballer under Flick’s command in the past. Under the wing of the German coach, the current Barcelona striker scored an astounding 83 goals in 71 games and also managed to provide 22 assists during this time.
Moreover, the Barcelona ace also won numerous titles under Flick’s guidance at Bayern Munich. This also included a historic continental treble and the ‘sextuple’, something only accomplished by Pep Guardiola’s FC Barcelona previously. Given such levels of success, it is not a mystery as to why this report makes sense.
However, it is primarily due to the expected increase in Lewandowski’s salary that Barcelona are skeptical about continuing with him next season. Furthermore, with his declining numbers, Barça are not entirely sure. Alas, the final decision will rest on whoever is coaching Barcelona next season, and if it ends up being Flick, Lewandowski may just find a new lifeline.
