FC Barcelona are expecting a revolution within the club not just out on the field in front of the spectators dressed in blue and red, but also within the offices of Blaugrana as they look to introduce a new sporting structure for the management of the club.
Hence, just today, Barcelona has officially appointed former Brazilian player Deco as the new Sporting Director of FC Barcelona, as he will now take over the post previously held by Jordi Cruyff, son of legendary Barcelona player and former manager Johan Cruyff.
For now, alongside the Director of Football, Mateu Alemany, Deco is expected to spearhead the operations within the remaining days of the summer transfer window and provide the Catalan club with the best possible acquisitions while taking into consideration the rather vulnerable financial state of the club.
Certain players over the summer were reported to have been in the plans of Deco but other members of the coaching sector, namely Xavi, had their differences in opinion.
One such case is that of Ivan Fresneda, where Xavi Hernandez remained firm on his stance that the Spanish youngster is not yet ready to be the starting right-back for the Blaigranes as per several reports.
While there may be varying approaches between Xavi and the newly appointed Deco, the two former Barcelona players are suspected by some to have ‘discrepancies’ or differences.
However, according to information provided by Spanish journalist Javi Miguel, Barcelona will be facing no such difficulties going forward, as both Xavi and Deco have the same vision for the club and agree upon the requirements for them to challenge and play as they ideally should.
Moreover, Javi Miguel also mentioned that those who continue to assume that the two will clash in terms of philosophy and methodology, are in for a very tough realization that their assumptions about the internal workings of FC Barcelona are completely in the wrong.
