At the moment, UEFA’s war with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid over the Super League continues to wage on. La Blaugrana and Los Blancos have long stood with the prospect of a European Super League, while UEFA firmly denies its legitimacy.

However, the latest ruling made by the Court of Justice of the European Union stands in favor of the project that Barcelona continues to support. The latest ruling offers a new perspective in terms of how both UEFA and FIFA are seen.

Both entities have been labelled as power abusers given how they have monopolized the European scene. Moreover, with this positive ruling, both El Clasico rivals can now look forward towards establishing the project itself.

According to the details provided by SPORT, both clubs hope to ensure the initiation of the competition does not take too long from now. First and foremost, however, come the negotiations with UEFA. While the ruling does criticize the current affairs of things, it also leaves room open for a collective understanding.

As such, Barcelona and Real Madrid hope to find a conclusion sooner rather than later. As it stands, according to SPORT, the current hope is to launch the Super League project in 2025.

The upcoming season will see all qualified European clubs taking part in the new Champions League format made by UEFA, but the very next season Barça and Madrid hope to truly take things to the next level.

As such, the current date for when the Super League is expected to take off is the 2025/26 season. Moreover, additional information about the league has also been provided by the official A22 website. A22, for added reference, is the organization behind the Super League in its entirety.

While the original format did not include any relegations or promotions, the new Super League format is much more inclusive. Three divisions will be introduced, named Star, Gold, and Blue.

Across all three divisions, 64 teams are expected to participate. Star and Gold will each involve 16 different clubs, while Blue will take on 32 contestants.
