It is well known that FC Barcelona have Brazilian prodigy and Athletico Paranaense forward Vitor Roque on their agenda as the transfer window fastly approaches. Apparently eager to don the Blaugrana colors is the 18-year-old Brazilian coveted gem.

Nonetheless, links between Roque and Barcelona have faced several stumbling blocks. Despite the desire to unite this summer, the Catalans are embroiled in Financial Fair Play problems that are delaying Roque’s recruitment.

Reports of the youngster being unwilling to stall excessively added considerable friction, giving rise to the possibility of other clubs swooping in. However, in a recent breakthrough made by Joaquim Piera of SPORT, in order to not lose this golden opportunity, Vitor Roque and his family are resolved to wait for FC Barcelona.

The club is considering all options, even one where they sign him now but bring him to Camp Nou in the summer of 2024. With several European giants including Newcastle, Chelsea, and Arsenal eyeing Roque’s situation, this news brings a breath of fresh air for the Camp Nou faithful.

Not only does this present Blaugranes time to sort out their finances; but they can also figure out ways to gain a negotiating edge in talks with Athletico Paranaense. Since the player is personally committed to joining Barcelona, a lower fee or the option of installments are realistic scenarios.

In spite of his young age, Roque’s profile matches Barcelona’s needs perfectly. Number 9s at Barcelona are required to be much more than poachers and lend their services leading towards goal. In such a context, Roque fits the bill precisely.

The move for the Brazilian is a clear indication of long-term vision. Whether the transfer transpires this summer or next year, beating some of Europe’s top clubs to acquire Roque will be a huge statement for Laporta’s board of directors as well as a satisfactory sporting deal.
