As the summer transfer window kicks off, so do new revelations for Barcelona. The Catalan giants are always amongst those European clubs typically involved in huge transfer sums and massive transfer sagas, and this 2023 does not seem to be any different all things and rumors considered.
In the most recent of revelations, trusted Catalan journalist and transfer expert Gerard Romero has unveiled that a particular side from the English Premier League is willing to submit an offer worth upwards of €80 million for one of FC Barcelona’s primary forwards. Moreover, Romero states that this particular potential transfer and its consequent income were included in the feasibility plan that FC Barcelona presented to La Liga.
The club in question is none other than the in-form side donning the white and black of Newcastle United, who currently sit at 3rd in the English first division behind only Arsenal and Manchester City. They are reportedly willing to offer that amount of €80 million for none other than Brazilian forward Raphinha, who currently has been deployed for FC Barcelona in the stead of Ousmane Dembele, who was sidelined since getting injured in January.
The Brazilian was initially brought in from the Premier League as well, with Barcelona acquiring his services from Leeds United for a reported fee of around €65 million after facing much competition from the likes of Chelsea and other sides interested in getting their hands on the winger.
With a surplus of forwards becoming a current issue for the Catalans, unwanted departures for both sporting and economic reasons are to be expected. It remains to be seen if Xavi and the sporting section of the club end up deciding that Raphinha is surplus to requirements or if they would rather continue to count on him for the upcoming season as well.
