Garcia Pimienta, who has formally been associated with FC Barcelona, most memorably as the head coach of Barca Atletic, is currently coaching Las Palmas.
Having helped the Canary Islanders get promoted from the Segunda and into La Liga, the coach is now looking to bolster his squad and is looking towards his former club, FC Barcelona, for this purpose.
According to SPORT, Pimienta was in FC Barcelona offices a few days ago, where he had meetings with club officials. The main agenda in these meetings was the acquisition of Alex Collado and Arnau Tenas by Las Palmas.
Alex Collado has worked previously with Pimienta when he was the coach of Barca Atletic, and the player was in his best form under Pimienta. Collado played 89 games with Pimienta, in which he scored 22 goals and also provided 11 assists.
He still has one year left in his contract with the Blaugranes and is looking to get his future sorted out after an unconvincing loan with Elche last season, where he scored only one goal in seventeen appearances.
The Catalans currently value Collado at €3 million and are open to listening offers for the youngster. The club can let him leave for a smaller sum if they can retain some rights over the footballer.
Arnau Tenas, the third goalkeeper for the Barcelona first team and the current captain of Barca Atletic, is another player who is of interest to Garcia Pimienta.
The goalkeeper’s contract end on 30th June, but the club has the chance to extend it by two more seasons. If an extension is granted, the club makes a further decision on whether the player Is to be promoted to the first team or sold to another club.
This would be a good opportunity for the youngsters to work with a coach whom they already have worked in the past, and also gain quality minutes in the first division. Thus, if a deal is reached between the two sides, both of them can benefit from it, as well as the involved players themselves.
