FC Barcelona have had a quite impressive pre-season as they won against Manchester City and Real Madrid in their USA tour. Several players made their name in these games, with the striker Pau Victor especially standing out with his goals and overall gameplay.
Some other players also took this opportunity to raise their stock in Flick’s eyes, including the midfielder Pablo Torre, who had returned to the Catalan side after a rather underwhelming loan season at Girona.
Owing to this lackluster loan spell, he was not looking likely to remain in Flick’s squad for the next season, but according to SPORT, his performances in the pre-season have still left a pleasant impression on the new Barcelona coach. The German tactician has been particularly impressed with Torre’s quality and vision in the final third.
However, the youngster is not going to find it easy to get many minutes at Barcelona, despite this good pre-season. The Blaugranes already have more than required attacking midfielders in their ranks, and there is already a lot of competition to play behind Robert Lewandowski in the starting lineup.
Flick has made it clear that he wants a large squad for the upcoming season, but Torre needs consistent minutes on the pitch to continue with his growth and development, which cannot be guaranteed at Barcelona.
The Blaugrana Sporting Department is also aware of this situation, and they also do not want the midfielder to be relegated to the bench. Thus, Deco and his staff will see if he gets minutes in the matches against Valencia and Athletic Club. If he does not feature much against these opponents, the Portuguese official will suggest another loan for Torre.
In such an eventuality, Girona can once again emerge as a real option for the Spaniard. Michel’s side is looking to reinforce the attacking midfielder position and is strongly contemplating a return for Torre. The player himself might be comfortable with such a move as he already knows the project.
