The question of just how much Neymar could have achieved if he had stayed with FC Barcelona is one of the topics that one finds highly intriguing but the answer to which may never be found.
Neymar formed one of the most potent attacking lines in FC Barcelona history, as he teamed up with Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi to help the Catalan club win their second treble. However, his stay at Barcelona was cut short when PSG came calling with €222 million, an amount that corresponded to his release clause at Barcelona.
Ever since his departure, the player has been linked to a return to Barcelona, and according to Mundo Deportivo, this has been the case this summer as well. Their report mentions that PSG have Neymar on their discard list, and are aiming to offload him in the coming weeks, although his contract with PSG runs till 2025.
To facilitate his move away from Paris, PSG offered him to Barcelona today. Two offers were made to Barcelona one after the other, but the Catalans’ technical staff was not in favor of a return of the Brazilian.
Xavi and his technical staff do not doubt the sporting qualities of the Brazilian, and Xavi, who has actually played with Neymar in his last seasons at the club, knows fully well his ability to turn the tide of any match by his sheer quality.
However, Xavi does not want to compromise on the feeling of camaraderie in the Barcelona dressing room and believes the incorporation of Neymar can harm this group’s solidarity.
Still, nothing is entirely ruled out as there are still some days left in the transfer market. The following days may have different surprises in store for the Blaugrana faithful, but for the time being, Xavi and his coaching staff will oppose a move for the Brazilian to come back to the club.
