The Nico Williams to FC Barcelona saga has dragged on for weeks now without reaching a definite conclusion. Athletic Bilbao are trying their best to convince their star winger to remain at the club at least for one more season.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have been busy in pre-season preparations but are waiting for an answer from the 22-year-old. Amidst all this, Nico has been away on holiday post-Euros where he was even pictured with Lamine Yamal.

FC Barcelona are still sorting out their financial situation as they continue their wait for Nico. The club is yet to officially return to the 1:1 rule this summer, awaiting the sale of 40% of Barca Studios and for the money to come in.

Amidst all this confusion, the coming days could turn out to be decisive in Barcelona’s pursuit of Nico. As per SPORT, Nico is now back in Bilbao and is ready to decide his future ahead of the new season.

His return to Bilbao a week earlier than expected adds weight to reports from Bilbao suggesting that he has already informed the club of his intention to rejoin the team on Monday, August 5, to arrive in good physical shape for the league opener against Getafe on Wednesday, August 15.

If Nico is keen on starting pre-season early with Bilbao, it does not bode well for the Catalan club. However, it is also possible that Nico Williams has decided to end his vacation with his family to take a few days to reflect and make a decision regarding his future.

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes remain optimistic that Williams will accept their proposal as they work to resolve their financial issues. With these latest developments, a definitive outcome in this transfer saga could emerge in the coming hours.
