Possessing a grand multitude of talents is a huge blessing for FC Barcelona, but not without its cons. La Masia continues to produce and new talents seem to constantly find their way to Barcelona’s first team. However, every youngster needs time to truly find their groove.
As a result, either for developing youth or for other reasons altogether, clubs tend to loan players away. For FC Barcelona, this stands just as true. Currently, nine players have left the club to play on loan elsewhere and SPORT has highlighted their individual progressions.
Clement Lenglet (Aston Villa)
The French defender was loaned out to Aston Villa due to economic reasons. Becoming too much of a burden on a financially restricted Barcelona, he was shipped off to help Barça limit their expenditure.
However, his time in England has been rather complicated this time around. Moreover, his return to Barcelona also raises other concerns.
Ansu Fati (Brighton)
Once considered the leader of the new Barcelona project, Ansu Fati has since succumbed to injuries. Limiting his confidence and explosiveness, Fati is plying his trade at Brighton in the hopes of recapturing his former self. However, it has not been the best of loans thus far for the young Spaniard.
Pablo Torre (Girona)
One of the two Barcelona players on loan at Girona, Pablo Torre has had his share of difficulties. Being outshadowed by Savinho, the young Barcelona talent would have hoped for more. He continues to fight for his place, however, and will possibly be given more minutes during the season.
Eric Garcia (Girona)
The other player who went to Girona, Eric Garcia has been enjoying life on loan. One of the undisputed starters of the team now, his performances exude massive confidence and quality.
Julian Araujo (Las Palmas)
The Mexican fullback arrived from the MLS but is yet to officially feature for FC Barcelona. Given his time to develop at UD Las Palmas and get acclimatized to Spanish football, Araujo has snatched up the opportunity and has been quite solid while being away on loan.
Sergino Dest (PSV)
Struggling with both FC Barcelona and AC Milan, Sergino Dest was loaned away to the league of his origin. Formerly an Ajax player, Dest is now plying his trade for PSV. While arguably not an undisputed starter, the American fullback is giving good displays and continues to show regular consistency.
Barcelona Atletic Loanees
Alex Valle (Levante), Chadi Riad (Real Betis), and Estanis Pedrola (Sampdoria) are all currently on loan as well. Interestingly, each of the three loan players is doing well at their respective destinations.
Pedrola continues to impress with his skills in Italy, Riad will now feature even more than before at Betis given the injury to Marc Bartra and Alex Valle has been crucial to Levante in a way that is now allowing Barcelona to see him as a direct competitor to Alejandro Balde once he returns back to Barça.
