FC Barcelona has always welcomed new surprises from their La Masia academy. It has previously been the talent factory that created the likes of Lionel Messi, Andres Iniesta, and Xavi Hernandez just to name a few. Now, in the modern age, the dependence on youth is stronger than ever.
Some of the most recent revelations from the academy have been Gavi and Fermin Lopez. Dynamic midfielders with the technical ability to back up their tenacity, they are a unique breed of footballers hailing from Andalusia.
Interestingly, several La Masia youngsters also happen to share Gavi and Fermin’s place of origin. With an Andalusian background, as highlighted by SPORT, these special few could be next in line to follow the duo’s glamorous footsteps.
Juvenil A:
Two names from within Juvenil A stand out, according to SPORT. Cristobal Munoz and Andres Cuenca are two very bright talents who currently play in Juvenil A. Munoz is an 18-year-old midfielder who is said to possess great physical traits and an ‘exquisite’ technique. Cuenca, on the other hand, is a 16-year-old central defender. His strength lies in his reliability, speed, power, and great ability on the ball.
Juvenil B:
The standout names from Juvenil B are said to be Toni Martin and Adri Guerrero. Martin is an 18-year-old winger who is capable of showing off with his speed and silky skills on the ball from either wing. Adri Guerrero is even younger, aged just 15. A ‘pure central midfielder’, he possesses great vision and a tremendous passing range.
Cadete A:
Pedro Rodriguez and Juan Pablo Galbarro are two impressive 15-year-olds from Cadete A. Galbarro is capable of playing as a left winger and a left back, possessing great potential. However, Pedro Rodriguez is identified by SPORT as one of the most promising midfield talents in La Masia. An elegant player with a dazzling set of abilities, he is surely one to keep an eye on.
Infantil A:
Infantil A also has two names to keep an eye on, Alejandro Oviedo and Pablo Pena. Oviedo is a forward, aged only 13, and is a player with extraordinary technical abilities. Able to turn the tide at a moment’s glance, he still needs work on consistency. Pablo Pena is the first and only Barcelona goalkeeper among the names highlighted by SPORT. He is marked as being a ‘robust’ and ‘agile’ goalkeeper.
Infantil B:
The youngest name on this list is that of Infantil B’s Adrian Sanchez. The young Barcelona disciple comes from Malaga. A versatile player, capable of playing both as a forward and midfielder, is a great starlet on the ball in terms of his dribbling, technique, and fearlessness to take risks.
