With the new set of arrivals at FC Barcelona already officially announced as well as registered within the records of La Liga promptly following their unveiling as new Barca players, it appears that the Catalan giants are set to also permanently lose one of their most promising assets.
According to the official website of FC Barcelona, 21-year-old Moroccan winger Ez Abde is set to permanently part ways with the Catalan giants as he pursues a new chapter in his career at Andalusian side Real Betis in La Liga.
As per various reliable sources, including that of Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Betis have been working non-stop for over 48 hours to ensure the completion of Abde’s transfer to them.
Moreover, other details provided in the official announcement state that the deal is a direct purchase for a transfer fee around the €7.5 million mark rather than the previously reported €10 million agreement that was widely speculated.
However, FC Barcelona have included a 50% sell-on clause that would see the Catalan giants receive half of any transfer fee that Real Betis receives in the future should Abde be transferred to another club.
Given his projection as a player, it would not be too far-fetched to imagine Abde going for a sizeable fee to a top club in the near future in a deal that could financially benefit Barcelona.
Having spent last season on loan at CA Osasuna and truly having cemented himself there as a talent to take seriously, Abde has since returned to Barcelona and reportedly is not satisfied with the lack of minutes he has thus far been offered and is likely to be given during the 2023/2024 season.
As a result, the player has decided to leave and it will be interesting to now see his development continue under head coach Manuel Pellegrini at Real Betis rather than at FC Barcelona, the latter having been the club where fans of La Blaugrana had hoped to see him for years to come.
