After dropping even more points in La Liga with a draw against Real Betis last Saturday, FC Barcelona are set to return to action on Wednesday with a UEFA Champions League clash against the last edition’s finalists, Borussia Dortmund.
As opposed to their form in La Liga, the Blaugranes have kept up their standards in the UCL, and are currently standing 3rd in the league phase table. Thus, they have a very good chance of advancing to the knock-out rounds of the competition without playing the play-off game.
However, they face a stern test in this regard as they will be facing Dortmund at their own home ground, Signal Iduna Park. Hansi Flick will be looking to get a win in this game, or at least avoid a defeat, to ensure his side’s progression to the Round of 16.
For this purpose, he will have quite a strong team available for this match, as only Marc Andre Ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal, and Ansu Fati remain unavailable for this game due to injuries.
Barcelona have announced the squad for this game, and the most notable addition is Ronald Araujo, who makes the squad list for the first time this season after having recovered from a serious injury that he suffered while playing for Uruguay in the 2024 Copa America.
Although he will not get any minutes on the pitch, Flick has still called him up to travel with the rest of the team to Dortmund. The defender is expected to make his return to the pitch in the next game against Leganes.
Other than that, there are not many changes in the list as compared to the squad for the last game against Real Betis.
