After winning the match against Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona once again have a crucial match at their hands which can ultimately have significant repercussions for the league standings.

The Blaugranes will take on Girona, who are currently the best-performing wild card in La Liga right now, in the most eagerly awaited clash on matchday 16 of the Spanish First Division.

Girona have sustained their form since the start of the season, and have emerged as the surprise dark horses in the league. They have got 38 points from 15 games up to now, which brings them almost toe to toe with Real Madrid. Barcelona are trailing these leaders with four points, as they have got 34 points in 15 matches.

With such a good form being shown by Girona, Barcelona will have to put their strongest starting eleven once again. However, the official squad list has been released by Barcelona, and they will be unable to call on important players like Ter Stegen, Gavi, Marcos Alonso, and Inigo Martinez for this match.

To mitigate the impact of the absence of the latter two defenders, Xavi has called up Pau Cubarsi from the reserve team for this match.
