Despite their financial troubles, FC Barcelona remain a formidable force in the world of transfers. Irrespective of their economic offers or financial means, La Blaugrana remain a dream club for many. Even now, as the Catalans struggle, they look towards the future.
Many expected Barcelona to be incapable of making any significant moves in the winter window. However, many recent reports suggested that at the very least, Barça would be hoping to go after one of the gems of Brazilian football in January.
Lo and behold, it seems that those reports are now confirmed news. As per the official Athletico Paranaense X account, it is now confirmed that 18-year-old Brazilian striker Vitor Roque will play his last game for the side in their upcoming match against Santos.
As such, many recent reports claiming that Roque will be available for Barcelona in January turn out to be proven right. With their first game after the new year starts being against Las Palmas, fans of La Blaugrana will be eager to see their latest acquisition in action.
Despite his tender age, Roque is the current top scorer of his Brazilian club. With 22 goals already to his name this season, the player will look to continue that fine form in Europe once he makes the transition to Barcelona.
Signing until 2031, Roque is expected to also have a release clause of €500 million attached to his contract. Already a lengthy seven-year deal, it comes as no surprise that both Roque and Barcelona consider each other fully compatible.
With Roque’s services now just about guaranteed for the second half of the season, Xavi receives a massive boost. Robert Lewandowski’s influence will also be great for the young Brazilian, who looks at the Pole as one of his idols regardless of the veteran’s declining form.
