Lamine Yamal has been one of the most active protagonists since the start of this season at FC Barcelona. The youngster from La Masia is seeing his influence grow with every senior appearance that he makes, despite him being only 16 years of age.
His great performances for Barcelona have also led to a call-up by the Spanish national team, and Yamal has not only already made his international debut, but also become the youngest player to score a goal for Spain.
Yamal, the best U-23 player in La Liga
As highlighted by SPORT and FC Barcelona’s official website, Yamal has achieved another distinction, as he has been named the Best U-23 player in La Liga EA Sports for the month of August.
His presence in all four games played by Barcelona and impressive performances in these appearances have been recognized by the league authorities, who have selected the Barcelona youngster over other notable performers like Takefusa Kubo and Nico Williams.
Furthermore, La Liga have also provided a statement justifying their selection of Yamal as the Best U-23 Player for August:
Lamine Yamal has been chosen LALIGA EA SPORTS Best U23 Player for the month of August. The Blaugrana winger has played all of Barça’s games since the season kicked off, and has shown his immense talent at just 16 years old.
The Barça graduate debuted this season in the Catalan side’s visit to Getafe, proving to be one of his team’s biggest offensive threats. This cameo earned him his first FC Barcelona start in the second game of the season at home against Cádiz, in which he proved to be just as good as he had been coming off the bench.
As Xavi’s men visited Villarreal in Matchday 3, Lamine was once again in the starting line-up, becoming more and more important for his side as he assisted fellow youngster, Gavi, making him the youngest-ever player to do so in the competition.
“For these reasons, Lamine Yamal has been awarded the LALIGA EA SPORTS Best U23 Player of the Month.”
Thus, Yamal has already got himself recognized only in his first month of this league season. Hopefully, this is only the first of these recognitions, and more awards will follow the youngster in the coming weeks, months, and years.
